There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)

When we are confident in our own judgment, we rarely pause to ask whether the path we have chosen may lead somewhere we did not intend. Today’s news shows us a world where dismissal of caution—whether about emerging technologies, diplomatic tensions, environmental monitoring, or trade consequences—is treated as strength rather than risk. The proverb does not promise that every confident decision ends in ruin, only that certainty itself is not a reliable guide. It invites us to consider: What warnings are we not listening to? What voices calling for restraint do we dismiss as fearful or obstructive? Wisdom, by contrast, often whispers rather than shouts, and it asks us to slow down before the endpoint reveals what we should have seen at the beginning.
