Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Romans 12:15 (KJV)

When the world presses in with so much suffering—outbreaks claiming thousands, families drowning, children among the dead, people fleeing danger, loved ones lost to violence—the apostle Paul offers no strategy, no theological answer, only an invitation: to weep. Not to distance ourselves with analysis or judgment, but to meet others in their particular pain. The burden today is not to understand why these things happen or to assign blame, but to recognize that our capacity to grieve alongside those who grieve is itself a form of grace. In a world heavy with loss, the simplest and most difficult act may be to refuse to look away.

What prompted this

Today's headlines are dominated by loss: mass casualties from disease and disaster, families mourning loved ones, vulnerable people suffering in conflict and migration, and the grief that accompanies sudden death and abduction. The news invites us to sit with sorrow rather than to explain it away.
